How to use Automation for your online business

As online businesses have progressed – so has marketing tools that help businesses increase their profits and sales. This is made possible either by the optimization of their sites and page ranking, to the more recently introduced innovation – which is marketing automation.

Today, some online businessess are already using automation in their online business, without them really being aware of it. This is usually done in the form of email auto responders and analytics, most of which are used to generate leads and sales.

The advantage of having automation systems is that it is like having additional workforce in your business without having to hire more employees and spending more time on doing the same tasks over and over again. But instead you are actually making or using a software do the extra work for you but without having to increase the number of your employees or your workforce, and more importantly save time. You can simply do this by sending customized messages to a target audience – with specific customer demographics.

The only question here is how to increase your profit using automated marketing. And for maximum profits, you can follow these five simple steps:

1. Segmentation– we all know that you need to identify high profile leads and target them – which you probably get thru emails from your website.

However, what most online marketers fail to do is segment these leads. You need to segment your list of the best leads that you have to avoid sending the same information to your database redundantly, in order to come up with a really good engagement.

With segmentation, you can determine a certain customer demographic – for example, if you are in the business of selling goods online – then you need to segment your consumers, by dividing your consumers to criteria or groups according to their spending behaviors, attitude towards your company, response to the product and their knowledge. In this way, you will know the customers that will most probably stay with you and those which have a high risk of cancelling.

When segmenting your leads, you will also need to consider other variables, such as if the client is a former consumer or a total stranger. It is in this manner that you can evaluate the client’s style when doing business, whether for the short or long term.

One way in helping you to properly segment you clients is by presenting a survey on your website, such as Survey Monkey. This will help you gather more information for future strategizing.

Once you’ve chosen high-profile leads to target and have already segmented them according to specific demographics, you can now tailor fit your product or services according to their needs.

2. Create a Focus sale funnel – one of the most effective uses of using automated marketing is that it increases your client conversion, which means that it converts your inquiring visitor to a purchasing customer.

For example, if a client responds to one of your emails and is directed to your order page, at this stage the client is now deciding whether to make a purchase or not. So, you will need to persuade them by giving them what they need, by providing free-trial of your products, you can heighten its value – and this will create a genuine interest from them to make purchase after the trial-period.

3 Monitor your leads – you need to monitor leads that are working and those that are worthless. Others might find it great to have a large list of leads, but upon using analytics, some unfortunately find out that in reality – they only have a small amount of working leads.

A lot of web surfers subscribe to email messages in a nonsensical way. And although it is quite obvious that these guys are actually not interested to do anything with the business – yet they don’t really take the time to unsubscribe to the list, which means that they are still on the email list, which actually later on affect its value and reputation.

In order to avoid these, you will need to remove bad domains, worthless distribution accounts, spam email addresses and inactive addresses.

4. Minimize losing of leads – losing good leads from your sales funnel and leakage, is another set-back for online marketers. Fortunately, you can make use of automation to plug the leak that causes this loss of leads.

These are just some of the things that you can take into account if you want to take advantage of automation and the benefits that it brings. In the end, what is important is that you are able to gain those conversions that yore’ business is after.
