When setting up a business online in the beginning can be quite difficult to drive traffic and build your awareness online. It can be quite disheartening, especially if you haven’t done something like this before, after launching a wonderful site, and you’re not getting any traffic or the sales that you thought, and no one is buying off you.
One of the ways of building your online presence and driving traffic to your website is using online forums, and taking part in online communities. This works very well, especially in the beginning when you’re trying to build your place online.
What will I do on a forum?
The whole objective here is to get others to know about you, and your business, and eventually get them to visit your site, and buy into your services. You will be going to forums in your niche, and helping others, answering to questions, and giving your opinion on topics related to your niche. You don’t need to spend your whole day on a forum, as its easily possible due to amount of forums and topics available, if you set aside 20-30 mins a day or a week to spend time on forums, and you’re consistent at it, this should be more then sufficient to start to build your online presence using a forum.
Tell me what to do next?
The first thing you need to do is, join some forums in your niche, and set up your profile. Always include your picture or company logo in the avatar, along with a link to your website address in the signature. It’s a good idea to register in few forums, so you reach wider audience.
Once you’re ready to go, search through topics and questions that others are asking, and see where you can go in and leave a comment or help answer the question, the main objective here, should notbe leaving loads of links to your site, as this can also cause your profile to be blocked. What you should be doing is being useful, and trying to build your awareness, and indication to others, that you know your industry well, and they can ask you any question, which you would have a good answer to and automatically they will come to your site.
The more active you are on forums, the more others will see you and want to know about you, especially if you have a blog, they will want to subscribe to your blog updates. So when writing topics or replaying to posts in forum, try not to write quick one line answers, be informative, give information, show others that you have the knowledge and the answers that they are looking for.
While you are being useful on forums and blogs, and making a name for yourself, try to build connections, and friends on the forum, inviting them to follow your networking sites and also to visit your website. You can share ideas with them and ask them to share tips with you. This way you can be of value to each other
